About Me

Welcome to my blog about music education!
Here I am playing flute with my high school's concert choir
at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC

I have always loved singing. Even as a toddler, my parents couldn't get me to stop.  My experiences in church and worship services at my Christian elementary school further encouraged my singing. I didn't begin an instrument until fourth grade, but as soon as I squawked out my first note on the flute, I loved band.

I received my undergraduate music degree from Central Connecticut State University, where I studied voice with Adele Paxton. I sang soprano in Central Connecticut State University's University Singers and Chorale under Dr. Drew Collins and Professor Ed Tyler, performed in an a cappella group, and played flute and tenor saxophone in various ensembles. I am an honors program graduate, Summa Cum Laude, and completed the honors thesis, Congregational Singing in the Lutheran Church in the spring of 2014.

I am a currently a substitute teacher in a local school, where I am learning about communication, classroom management, and how absolutely awesome kids are :) I am also pursuing an M.S. in Secondary Education and k-12 music certification.

In addition to my music education related activities, I have worked at a local Equity theater for seven years and still love every minute of it! It's always exciting to meet new actors, musicians, crew members and patrons!
